Summary: | Potassium was intercalated into β-ZrNCl layer structured crystals using a K-naphthalene solution in tetrahydrofuran (THF), and a direct reaction with potassium metal. New polytypic and intermediate-stage intercalation compounds have been obtained with different amounts of potassium and the co-intercalation of THF. The structure and the formation mechanism have been discussed. The intercalation compounds showed superconductivity with the transition temperatures of 11.5−15.0 K. The higher critical temperature (T c) values of the lower K-doped and co-intercalated phases can be interpreted in terms of the unconventional superconductivity of the present system. |
