Effect of Conjugation Length on Intrachain Chromophore−Chromophore Interaction in Silylene-Spaced Divinyloligoarene Copolymers
A range of silylene-spaced divinyloligoarene alternating copolymer 3 has been synthesized regioregularly by rhodium-catalyzed hydrosilylation of bis(alkynes) 5 with bis(silanes) 6. Monomeric reference compounds 4 having similar chromophore components were also prepared for comparison. The silylene m...

Summary: | A range of silylene-spaced divinyloligoarene alternating copolymer 3 has been synthesized regioregularly by rhodium-catalyzed hydrosilylation of bis(alkynes) 5 with bis(silanes) 6. Monomeric reference compounds 4 having similar chromophore components were also prepared for comparison. The silylene moieties serve as insulating spacers between chromophores. Intrachain interaction appears to be negligible due to the localization of exciton in these conjugated chromophores, resulting in the emission that closely resembles that of the parent chromophore. |
