Synthesis of Poly(sodium styrenesulfonate-block-vinylnaphthalene) by Nitroxide-Mediated Free Radical Polymerization

Summary: | The new block amphiphilic copolymer, poly(sodium styrenesulfonate-block-vinylnaphthalene) (PSSS-block-VN), was synthesized by nitroxide-mediated “living” radical polymerization in homogeneous solution. The composition of the copolymer was determined by 1H NMR spectroscopy and elemental analysis. On the basis of GPC, viscometric, and spectroscopic measurements, we proposed that the copolymer adopts a highly compressed, pseudomicellar conformation in aqueous solution. |
