Summary: | Abstract The Taylor Spatial Frame (Smith & Nephew, Inc., Memphis, TN) has become an important tool in the treatment of post-traumatic deformities. This article concentrates on the technical indications, preoperative planning, frame construction, intraoperative strategies, and postoperative regimes used to correct post-traumatic problems. Chronic and Total Residual mode are discussed and advantages and disadvantages of each technique are considered. Clinical examples are given. Posttraumatic osteomyelitis, malunions and complex nonunions are emphasized and detailed treatment outlines are suggested depending on the severity of the problem. Stacked bone transport is reviewed in the setting of significant bone loss, poor surrounding soft tissue, infection, and nonunion. |
