Mechanistic Studies on a New Catalyst System (CuI-NaHSO4×SiO2) Leading to the One-Pot Synthesis of Imidazo[1,2-a]pyridines from Reactions of 2-Aminopyridines, Aldehydes, and Terminal Alkynes
Abstract One-pot reactions of aldehydes, 2-aminopyridines, and terminal alkynes, in the presence of the copper(I) iodide-NaHSO 4 ˙SiO 2 combination catalyst in refluxing toluene, generate the corresponding imidazo[1,2-A]pyridines in high to excellent yields; the mechanism has been studied.
