Summary:Introduction: Tinnitus is a very common symptom at the ENT clinic. By definition it is a sound not being generated in the environment at that time. It affects about 17% of the population in some countries. In Brazil, the data are not yet well defined, but it is possible that some 28 million Brazilians have already had some form of tinnitus. Objective: To evaluate the epidemiological profile of patients, bearers of tinnitus the ambulatory of tinnitus at the Hospital Otorrinos in the period from 2011 to 2013. Material and Methods: In a total of 817 patients with tinnitus complaint was instituted a questionnaire about the characteristics of tinnitus. A profile of these patients was mounted with subjective responses. Results: In 88.08% of the patients a specific cause pro buzz was not found, being that most adhered to treatment, 58.09%. The method of adaptation main was the sound amplification device (AASI), with 68%, and the generator suppression tinnitus with 32%. Observing improves in 90% of cases with use of AASI. Conclusion: The most tinnitus is idiopathic and improves with time. Adaptation using AASI is evident.
