Novel Synthesis of Metal-Free Phthalocyanines from Phthalimides and Phthalic Anhydrides with Hexamethyldisilazane

Abstract Metal-free phthalocyanines and their peripherally sub­stituted derivatives have been synthesized from unsubstituted and substituted phthalimides, phthalic anhydrides, and naphthalimide on heating with hexamethyldisilazane under mild conditions.
