Summary: | Creatures adapted to environmental conditions in a variety of ways, on the macroscopic as well as the microscopic scale. The evolved structures always give a hint about the design of functional materials. Recently, inspired by the trichomes on the surface of silver ragwort, we fabricated a surface with superhydrophobicity and light-shielding simultaneously by simply transforming polystyrene to the trichomeslike structure. |
