Description
Summary:An electron diffraction investigation of the structure of free neon clusters ( N 2 ) n ¯ is performed in the average-size range 10 2 ⩽ n ¯ ⩽10 5   molecules /cluster. The first cluster beams of nitrogen consisting of monostructural aggregations with hexagonal close packing of the molecules are obtained. A sequence of structural transformations resulting in the formation of a high-temperature β phase of nitrogen in bulk samples with homogeneous nucleation is proposed on the basis of an analysis of the results obtained.
