Description
Summary:A simplified and accurate method was found for the indexing of field ion micrographs. The procedure makes use of a gnomonic projection that is modified to fit the particular microscope and thus describes the ionic paths. A unique modification was incorporated into the microscope by allowance of a ±15° vertical rotation of the image screen. Calculations of ionic paths at several screen rotations proved that the ionic paths were accurately defined.
