Summary: | In mass transport studies of nematic liquid crystals by the optical method, where the textural appearance of the diffusion profile provides the analysis of concentration distributions, it was feasible to study the diffusion processes as a function of time. With such a dynamic approach, we determined the values of diffusion coefficients in an oriented nematic film at various diffusant concentration ranges within the profile and estimated the value of self-diffusion coefficient by extrapolation to zero concentration. |
