Summary: | On the basis of the temporal and spatial growth of ionization currents formative time lags are calculated in nitrogen at Nd values below Paschen’s minimum and compared with the measured values. The secondary ionization coefficient is observed to be entirely due to positive ions and an over voltage of more than 100% is required to obtain 5% contribution from the photoelectric action to the total secondary ionization coefficient. |
