Summary: | Stability analysis has been carried out for current conduction in magnetohydrodynamic conditions using the perturbation approach. Conditions for the onset of instability at the electrode surface and the corresponding critical values of current density and electric field have been obtained. Experimental values of the critical cathode potential drop have been used to obtain the work function of the composite surface (formed due to the deposition of seed material at the electrode) as a function of the electrode temperature. |
