Summary: | Ultrasound attenuation by electrons is considered for a quasi-two-dimensional semiconductor quantum-well structure. The attenuation coefficient, α, is calculated quantum mechanically and found to vary with the width of the quantum well. It is found that the attenuation can be enhanced over its value in a bulk semiconductor as the thickness of the quantum well decreases. |
