Description
Summary:The magnetic moment for a γ-Fe2O3:Co recording media was measured as functions of strength and direction of applied field. Fourier expansions on the component of magnetic moment along the applied field direction (mx) to the rotation angle (θ) show that the zeroth, first, and second order coefficients are related to the reversible part, remanent part, and irreversible susceptibility, respectively. The calculated effective angle between the magnetic moment and the applied field (α) consistently equals zero at θ≂134° and θ≂304° for the decreasing- and increasing-field measurements, respectively. The (θ-α) vs θ curves correspond to those predicted by the texture model.
