Resonance efficiency enhancement for cylindrical vector fiber laser with optically induced long period grating

We demonstrated an all fiber laser using a few mode distributed Bragg reflector with a cylindrical vector beam output. The resonance efficiency experiences a sudden change from 13.26% to 32.48% when the pump reaches a threshold-like power level. We attribute the origin of this phenomenon to the opti...

Description
Summary:We demonstrated an all fiber laser using a few mode distributed Bragg reflector with a cylindrical vector beam output. The resonance efficiency experiences a sudden change from 13.26% to 32.48% when the pump reaches a threshold-like power level. We attribute the origin of this phenomenon to the optically introduced long period grating caused by the transversal hole burning in the double clad Yb-doped fiber. This is confirmed by numerical simulations of the transversal hole burning influences on the laser operation. Four states of cylindrical vector beams with high modal symmetry are obtained through adjusting the laser polarization.
