Description
Summary:The experimentally observed bandwidth of backscattered stimulated Raman scattered (SRS) light may be large enough to overwhelm the bandwidth of the induced Langmuir wave turbulence. In this broad bandwidth regime it is possible to simply relate the spatial variation of the reflectivity to its spectral density at the SRS matching frequency, without further assumption as to the nature of the turbulence. It is suggested that this regime is a useful starting point for modeling the self consistent nonlinear plasma response to SRS, and towards this end a novel stochastic quasi-linear Markovian model is introduced.
