Summary: | In order to significantly increase the peak power of the output wave pulse of a Cherenkov backward-wave oscillator (BWO) operating in the super-radiance regime, it is proposed to use a slow-wave structure in the form of a waveguide with a two-period corrugation. This approach is especially effective in a hybrid system in which the super-radiant wave pulse generated in a BWO with traditional single-period corrugation is amplified in a BWO with a two-period corrugation. Simulations based on the simplest 1D spatiotemporal theory predict a significant enhancement (by 4–5 times compared with the traditional super-resonant BWO version) of the peak power of the output wave pulse. |
