Summary: | Yarns and fabrics usually have regular structures such as periodic patterns as well as irregular texture such as surface hairiness. To improve the accuracy of fabric simulation, a fibre and yarn level parametric modelling method based on the Rhino&Grasshopper package was developed in this study. The geometric and structural characteristics of fibre and spun yarn were analysed. The fibre cross-section shape, packing distribution, and yarn hairiness were established to build a three-dimensional yarn model first. Then, realistic simulation of a woven fabric was carried out, incorporating yarn hairiness features for the first time. The results show that the fibre to fabric parametric modelling method based on Rhino&Grasshopper has high fidelity and broad application prospects. |
