Summary: | Extraction of diazepam (DZP) from complex matrices, i.e. blood, milk and urine, has been carried out using conventional solvents and surfactant formulations. The formulations have been spectrophotometrically (A) analysed and method specificity has been depicted through first-order derivative (D1) spectrophotometry. A comparative study between conventional solvents and surfactant formulations has been performed for the recovery (%R) of the drug. Among all the employed formulations, non-ionic surfactant, Brij-58 (3 mM)/EtOH (1:1) possessed maximum extraction efficiency. The significance of the study can be envisaged as surfactant-based formulations acting as a potent vector for extraction of diazepam, which can be scaled up for varied applications. |
