PHYSICAL PROPERTIES AND STRUCTURES OF PSEUDOHALOGENOCOPPER (II) COMPLEXES WITH PHENANTHROLINE
Electronic, IR and EPR spectra of eight Cu(II) complexes with trigonal-bipyramidal, tetragonal-bipyramidal and tetragonal-pyramidal coordination polyhedra containing phenanthroline and pseudohalogenide ligands were examined and their interrelationships with molecular and crystal structures evaluated...

Summary: | Electronic, IR and EPR spectra of eight Cu(II) complexes with trigonal-bipyramidal, tetragonal-bipyramidal and tetragonal-pyramidal coordination polyhedra containing phenanthroline and pseudohalogenide ligands were examined and their interrelationships with molecular and crystal structures evaluated. Along with the usual trigonal-bipyramidal environment of Cu(II), tetragonal symmetry for four complexes was observed. The origin of this tetragonal symmetry is connected with intermolecular interaction of phenanthroline with pseudohalide ligands. |
