Summary:A peculiar new tachyine genus and species is described from the lower Cape York Peninsula and South Wellesly Islands, North Queensland, Australia: Setitachys macrops, gen. & spec. nov. The genus belongs in the Tachys (s.str.) Dejean, 1821 and Paratachys Casey, 1918 lineage, but is distinguished from all known genera and subgenera of that lineage by the erect pilosity on the upper and lower surfaces.
