Description
Summary:Georges Lavaudant's "theatrum mundi" is governed by the belief that "Theatre can take everything in. It must absorb everything. Theatre with its fragility and slower rhthym holds its own against the omnipresence of rapidly moving images." The patterns of the three main phases of the theater director's career are "a hybrid and fragmented approach that interrogates the mechanics of theatrical representation; the transofrmation of theatre into a machine for making beautiful images; the exploration of écriture théâtrale (theatrical writing) by alternating productions of contemporary works with plays from the established repertoire, and by writing his own texts." His career is traced, highlighting his work with several theater companies, including Théâtre Partisan and the Théâtre National Populaire.
