Summary: | According to elemental analysis practiced on 47 samples from different locations in Persian Gulf, pelagic carbonate rocks constitute the dominant source rock while an increase is observed in amounts of evaporative facies in eastern regions and shale facies in southern regions. The isotope analysis reveals that there are three groups of source rocks in Persian Gulf; first are Asmari layers with an age of 95-97 million years, second is reservoir layer of Sarvak with an age of 105-107 million years estimated for its source rock, and third are numerous reservoir layers with source rock ages between 138 and 145 million years. |
