Description
Summary:Psychologists find themselves increasingly responsible for the evaluation of young developmentally disabled children 0-6 years of age. The following paper explores the multiple dimensions of a psychological evaluation of the young DD child. These dimensions include assessment of intellectual abilities, adaptive behaviors, and social and environmental interactions, as well as the adaptation of existing tools to assess these areas. Application of these procedures to specific handicapping conditions and specific testing environments are discussed. In addition, alternative methods of reporting findings and writing functional assessments are presented.
