Summary: | A literature review was conducted to learn of research that focused on the college educational outcomes (academic performance, retention, and graduation) of individuals who experienced foster care. Process yielded 24 studies dating from 1990 to 2015. The 24 articles were analyzed to learn of the types of research questions that were investigated. Three major topic areas emerged from the analyses of the research questions: (a) description of college educational outcomes, (b) factors linked to college educational outcomes, and (c) worth of a college degree. The studies' findings were reported. Policy, practice, and research recommendations were discussed. |
