Summary: | Radiocaesium being very soft, lustrous, and highly reactive metal is very harmful if present in large quantity in the environment. Here in this chapter, we will discuss the contaminated sites and possible remediation methods of radiocaesium just to eliminate from ecosystem and make our planet green and peaceful. Lots of radionuclides released not only to atmosphere but also into the oceans, rivers, lakes, and other water bodies after global fallout, Chernobyl accident, giant tsunami, and Fukushima nuclear power plant accident in 2011. It damaged all the living on terrestrial and aquatic ecosystems. Many attempts have been taken into account to reduce its dangerous effects but still world is facing this enigma. Many polluted sites and treatments have been discussed in detail. |
