Summary:For pt.II see ibid., vol.6, no.17, p.2745, 1973. Using one of Silsbee's models of the R-centre (1965) (an H 3 -molecule in the equilateral triangle configuration), the authors have calculated the spin-orbit coupling constants and the g-factors for the ground and excited levels of the R-centre in KCl, as well as the oscillator strengths of the optical absorption bands of this centre. The agreement with experiment is poor. A possible improvement of the model is suggested.
