Description
Summary:Seaweed culture develop in the coastal of Bantaeng, South Sulawesi, Indonesia. This study aims to identify the production of seaweed in different distance culture locations from the river and oceanographic factors. The study was conducted in the marine coastal of Bantaeng regency. There are three stations were chosen for the study that consist station A was 1 km from the river mouth, Station B was 2 km, and Station C was 3 km. The production seaweed was weighed after harvest from 3 sites in each station. The oceanographic factors were measured in each site during culture activity. Seaweed production after 45-day culture ranged from 8,200 to 12,800 kg wet/ha. The highest production occurred in the location 3 km from the river mouth and the lowest occurred at 1 km from the river. The sea temperature, salinity, pH, brightness, and current velocity were suitable for seaweed culture.
