Brief Communication: Ultrastructural Study of Herpes Simplex Virus Infection of Mouse Cells Chronically Producing Rauscher Leukemia Virus
Mouse cells (JLSV9) chronically infected with Rauscher leukemia virus (JLSV9-RLV) were superinfected with low multiplicities of herpes simplex virus subtype-1 (HSV-1) and examined by electron microscopy 12 and 24 hours after infection. In several cells, both viruses were observed in various stages o...

Summary: | Mouse cells (JLSV9) chronically infected with Rauscher leukemia virus (JLSV9-RLV) were superinfected with low multiplicities of herpes simplex virus subtype-1 (HSV-1) and examined by electron microscopy 12 and 24 hours after infection. In several cells, both viruses were observed in various stages of development. Many double-enveloped herpes-like particles were seen in the superinfected JLSV9-RLV cultures but not in JLSV9 control cells infected with HSV-1 alone. |
