Description
Summary:This paper presents the results of rnicrometric and photometric measurements of coudé spectra of the magnetic variable HD 125248. The magnetically analysed spectra were obtained in 1964–65 with a dispersion of 6.8 Å mm–1 (Mount Stromlo Observatory) and 2.0 Å mm–1 (Lick Observatory), and cover the positive half of the magnetic cycle of the star. The magnetic field observations show that the period of 9.2954 days is strictly maintained; the radial velocities, combined with earlier published values, strongly support the suggestion that HD 125248 is a spectroscopic binary with a period of 4.4 years and orbital elements have been calculated. Equivalent widths are given for some 97 lines over the observed half of the cycle and line contours from the 2.0 Å mm–1 plates are used to investigate the ‘ crossover effect ’.
