Summary: | The peculiar A star HD 153882 is one of the group of periodic magnetic variables, with a period of 6.1 days. The paper presents the results of measurements of the magnetic field, radial velocity, and line profiles from observations of HD 153882 made in 1967 over the full period of the magnetic variation. The results are compared with the predictions of the oblique rotator model as formulated by Böhm-Vitense. It is shown that the model gives good quantitative agreement with most of the observed features of the magnetic variation. In addition the marked crossover effect seen at phase 0.43 is well explained by the model. |
