Description
Summary:We present new results from reduction of data from the space experiment Relikt-1 (investigation of the anisotropy of the cosmic microwave background at 37 GHz) are presented. With 99 percent confidence, an anomalous signal is detected in a region of area of about 1 sr, centered at $\text {RA}=1^\text h30^\text m,\enspace\text {Dec}.=-10^\circ(l=150^\circ,\enspace b=-70^\circ)$. The brightness temperature of the signal is $\Delta T=-71\pm 43\enspace\mu\text K$ with 90 percent confidence, including systematic errors. The nature of the signal cannot be explained by effects of the apparatus or by radio emission of known sources; there are reasons to believe that the signal has a cosmological origin. For a model of cosmological signal with scale-invariant spectrum, i.e. in terms of a power-law spectrum with n = 1, an estimate is presented, for the rms, of a quadrupole component of $6 \times 10^-6\lt\Delta T_2/T\lt 3.3\times 10^{-5}$ with 90 percent confidence, including systematic errors.
