Photosynthetic Development of Micropropagated Strawberry Plantlets following Transplanting
Leaves from plantlets of Fragaria × ananassa Duch. cv. Gento cultured in vitro do not fix sufficient carbon to maintain the plantlets without an added carbon source. Following transplanting to glasshouse conditions these leaves fail to develop significant photosynthetic ability and degenerate. Those...

Summary: | Leaves from plantlets of Fragaria × ananassa Duch. cv. Gento cultured in vitro do not fix sufficient carbon to maintain the plantlets without an added carbon source. Following transplanting to glasshouse conditions these leaves fail to develop significant photosynthetic ability and degenerate. Those leaves developing subsequent to transplanting are photosynthetically capable. The possible transitory, nutritive function of leaves produced in vitro is discussed. |
