Summary: | Data on marker genes, heterozygous chromosome configurations, and expected frequencies of duplication-deficiency gametes are presented for the 58 cotton translo-cation lines that form quadrivalents in heterozygotes. Large symmetrical ring IV's (A;A translocations) tend to exhibit an excess of alternate orientations at metaphase I, whereas small (D;D) rings show a strong preference for adjacent orientations. Lines with other predominant types of IV's tend to show random orientation of rings and chains. The characteristic configurations formed by each line are useful for monitoring the purity and identity of the lines and for selecting lines for specific cytogenetic uses. |
