Summary: | Transport workers handling radioactive cargoes are generally exposed to the highest dose rates of any population group. This paper describes an empirical model based on a detailed work study of individuals handling radioactive cargoes and the exposure rates at various distances from specified individual packages. The personnel doses thus calculated compared reasonably well with the doses recorded on personnel monitoring badges. The personnel doses were evaluated with reference to the total transport index handled by the workers, yielding results consistent with those reported elsewhere by earlier researchers. |
