Summary: | A 41-year-old woman with a history of epilepsy underwent SPECT brain imaging with Tc-99m HMPAO during the interictal phase to help identify the site of eleptogenic focus. An area of diminished tracer accumulation was seen in the midline posteriorly, adjacent to the cerebellum and occipital lobes. A subsequent MRI demonstrated the area of diminished perfusion to correspond to a prominent cisterna magna. This normal variant should be included in the differential diagnosis of this scan appearance. |
