Description
Summary:An investigation has been made of the effect of ketone concentration, of temperature, of the wavelength of the exciting light and of the concentration of an inert addend on the quantum yield for the decomposition of hexafluoroacetone vapour. All data were obtained in an apparatus free of mercury vapour. General trends shown by the data are those predicted by the mechanism offered. In particular the value of the quantum yield extrapolated to infinite concentration of ketone depends only on the temperature and not on the wavelength of excitation. The data will be discussed further in part V.
