Summary: | The 1998 Asia Pacific Publishers Association Meeting in Tokyo was followed by the International Publishers Association 4th International Copyright Symposium, the first of this series to be held in Asia. The meeting explored the publishers' new roles and legal protection of the publishers' rights in the evolving digital and information-based society. Descriptions and demonstrations of Electronic Copyright Management Systems were a key feature. The need for greater librarian interest in "rights" issues and in the new roles that are rapidly emerging was stressed. |
