Summary:The problems encountered in the design of grounding systems for digital systems to meet both the requirements of the National Electrical Code (NEC) and the equipment manufacturer's site planning manuals and installation instructions are discussed. The authors point out the NEC requirements and the inconsistencies between the NEC and the manufacturer's requirements. An integrated grounding practice which can be followed by the equipment manufacturers, engineering and construction companies, and process and manufacturing companies is described.< >
