Summary:The inductance and flux of the winding segmented permanent magnet linear motor(WS-PMLM) change sharply between segments area, so it is difficult to detect the position of the WS-PMLM. In order to solve this problem, this paper presents a method for detecting the mover position of WS-PMLM based on disturbance observer by the compound back EMF. In this paper, a mathematical model of the motor considering the variation of electromagnetic parameters between segments is established and the expressions of the back EMF in the segment and intersegment regions are obtained. Secondly, a method for detecting the position of WS-PMLM based on disturbance observer is proposed. Thirdly, a method to estimate the position between segments is proposed by using the compound back EMF of two adjacent stator segments. Finally, the correctness and effectiveness of the proposed methods are verified by simulation and experiment.
