Description
Summary:The paper presents a novel inherent polarization sensitivity technique using SOA to perform cross polarization modulation. The wavelength conversion takes place due to nonlinear rotation in state of polarization at the output of the SOA. Nonlinear polarization rotation is enhanced by optimizing the various parameters of SOA. The conversion is achieved with wavelength separation of 1 nm for up and down conversion with non-return to zero input signals at bit rate of 10 Gb/s. It is predicted that conversion efficiency becomes almost same for both up and down conversions at high value of pump signal power. Improved extinction ratio is observed for all optical wavelength conversion.
