Description
Summary:Battery powered handheld devices with video playback and multimedia capabilities are becoming ubiquitous. Advances in technology have facilitated the use of these devices for enjoying high resolution and high definition content through media playback, streaming and recording applications. Such multimedia intensive applications consume lot of power and drain the battery quickly. There are certain cases where very high quality video is not expected and moderate to low quality video can be tolerated especially when the battery is running low. This paper describes a method for processing YCbCr data in battery powered multimedia devices with video display capability. The proposed method aims to reduce the load on the memory bus and minimize the computation thereby reducing the power consumption and increasing the performance.
