Summary: | This paper proposes an active voltage balancing control strategy for the three-level flying capacitor boost converter (FCBC). The average-behavior circuit model for the three-level FCBC is studied, and then, the relationship of control to output signals is presented to analyze the coupling effects between the capacitor voltage balancing and the output voltage regulation. In addition, classical proportional and proportional-integral controllers are used for the voltage balancing control loop and the output voltage regulating control loop, respectively. Finally, the proposed control algorithm is implemented in a commercial field programmable gate array platform. Some simulation and experimental results demonstrate that the proposed active control strategy is able to achieve the desired effects for the steady-state and transient responses. |
