Description
Summary:This study presents a novel linear resolver (L-Resolver) with two possible winding configurations. The mover has a simple structure, where a single coil is located in its slot as the field winding. Two separate windings are located on the stator as the signals (sine and cosine) windings, for which two possible configurations are proposed. Once a configuration with overlapping coils, and the second is nonoverlapping. The accuracy of the proposed resolver is studied, and the resolver's sensitivity to the asymmetric air-gap is evaluated under both winding configurations. Analyses are performed by the well-known magnetic equivalent circuit (MEC) method thanks to its flexibility and shorter processing time compared with the finite element method (FEM). The results show good accuracy and low sensitivity to the asymmetric air-gap fault. Therefore, the proposed novel resolver is a suitable sensor for linear position sensing compared with others. Finally, the effectiveness of the proposed resolver is proven by performed validation by experimental results.
