Summary: | The automatic reset of magnetic switch based on saturable pulse transformer (SPT) is proposed in this paper. The system is based on two-stage SPT and helix Blumlein pulse forming line (HBPFL) is presented in this paper, and the automatic reset mechanism is analyzed theoretically. In addition, experiments are carried out, and the results show that if the charging current of the intermediary capacitor is large enough, the magnetic switch will be reset completely. The charging current is determined by the voltage on the primary capacitor. The charging voltage of the HBPFL is measured to evaluate the automatic reset of magnetic switch, and the jitters of the peak charging voltage and charging time are analyzed. For ten shots, the average peak charging voltage is 86.6 kV and the jitter is 1 kV. The average charging time is 1.2 μs with 56.7-ns jitter. The results demonstrate that the magnetic switch can work with good pulse-to-pulse repeatability under automatic reset mechanism. The automatic reset of the magnetic switch is stable and it is feasible for the application of working at high repetition rate. |
