Description
Summary:Women with intellectual disabilities face specific challenges as they age, including health risks and social barriers. This study of 218 Chilean women aged 45 to 80 examines their levels of self‐determination using a tailored scale. Self‐determination refers to the ability to take control of one's own life. The results showed that self‐determination is linked to important things like their financial situation, the type of support they get, how severe their intellectual disability is and whether they have mental health problems. The results emphasise the need for tailored programs and inclusive policies to remove barriers, promoting community involvement and independent decision‐making to improve quality of life.
