Summary:ON THE COVER: Light micrograph displaying cell morphology of Myxacorys californica , a new genus and species from biological soil crusts of the Americas. Micrograph shows trichome morphology after 2 weeks of transfer to new culture medium. Trichomes are first sheathless while in mature growth stage develop a slime cap at apical cells.
