Nodal Patterns of the Free Flexural Vibrations of Stiffened Plates

With the aid of results from previous research on the vibration of stiffened plates, a study is made of the nodal patterns of a particular plate with orthogonally placed stiffeners. The pertinent theory of vibration of stiffened plates is introduced. Experiments are described. The normal modes of vi...

Description
Summary:With the aid of results from previous research on the vibration of stiffened plates, a study is made of the nodal patterns of a particular plate with orthogonally placed stiffeners. The pertinent theory of vibration of stiffened plates is introduced. Experiments are described. The normal modes of vibration are investigated. Frequencies of flexural vibration are given for theory and experiment. The compounding of modes is illustrated by a single but rather convincing example. The rôle of research concerning normal modes of vibration of stiffened plates is discussed.
