Description
Summary:Banjos generally come in three differrent types: five-string banjo with a resonator, five-string banjo without a resonator, and four-string banjo with a resonator. Only recently have banjos been the object of much scientific study, and most of these studies have been directed at the American five-string banjo. These investigations have considered the modes of vibration of the principal parts, how they couple together, and how they radiate sound. In general, peaks in the driving point mobility correlate well with modes of vibration in the banjo head and with the radiated sound. Systematic modifications of some of banjo parts have been made by various investigators, and the effects of these modifications are considered.
